Mark Tuckerman

Bill Southward Mark Tuckerman, has over 35 years of experience in profit, non-profit and government (military sectors), He has had a variety of positions in Operations, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Training, Consulting, Repair, Finance, and Facilities. With participation in or as primary consultant to over 9 “greenfield” or “brown field” startups, he has characterized himself as a “start-up junkie”. He specializes in applying principles of high performance principles (such as lean, six-sigma, advanced leadership and engagement) to help people maximize both their potential as persons and their performance as an organization. Teaching and mentoring for effectiveness is one of his strengths as he develops others skills and ability to apply principles to their situation. Some of his accomplishments include:

  • As client-manager, consulted to a variety of both operations and business process sites in Pratt: HR, Communications, the New Zealand Christchurch Engine Center, the procurement organization, and the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne organization (5 sites in 3 states). Currently 5 of his client sites are ACE Gold, with three more scheduled for 2009

  • Consulted to manufacturing, engineering and administrative organizations on organizational improvement. Projects have improved participation, quality and productivity using team concepts; Just-in-Time (JIT) Manufacturing(Lean); Total Quality Control and TQM; Integrated Product Development and Concurrent Engineering; High Performance Organizations and Strategic Vision.

  • Researched, negotiated and implemented innovative labor contracts between two industrial companies and their unions.(DWU/OCU, UAW) Contracts were designed to meet the needs of JIT, total quality management, flexible team organizations and productivity improvement. Following the UAW contract, sustained productivity gains of over 1.5% Per Month for longer than 4 years.

  • Created selection and orientation programs that included innovative "work-sample" selection processes that objectively measured the skills and attitudes of candidates. Improved the quality of selection, participation and dramatically reduced turnover rates, and “time to hire” for new employees affecting quality, delivery, productivity and cost performance, as well.

  • Developed strategy and trained the entire leadership team and members of UTC’s research center on Covey Principle–Centered Leadership, including “the Seven Habits of Highly Successful People”, “First Things First”, “Principle–Centered Leadership”, and the “Four Roles of Leadership”.

Mark has a BA in Socio-technical Systems from Southern Illinois University, a MBA from Yale University School of Management, and a Masters in Quality Systems management from National Graduate School. In addition he holds a Black Belt certificate in Six-Sigma.
