Dr. Thomas P. Mortimer

Englehart Dr. Mortimer has more than 20 years of TQM (Total Quality Management) consulting experience. He has held a variety of positions in Engineering, Manufacturing, Strategic Planning, Customer Service, and Program Management. He has successfully applied ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence), Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies at large aerospace companies, medium to small businesses, government organizations, and in public education. He has special expertise in Process Improvement, Rigorous Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action, Process Certification, and Team Building/Effective Teaming. Examples of some of his accomplishments include:

Developed DIVE (Define-Investigate-Verify-Ensure) RRCA methodology with statistical methods for UTC Corporation, trained five hundred students, and consulted in the successful completion of their projects.
Lead 30 Pratt & Whitney Engineering business processes DIVE projects over an 18 month period which documented savings of over $10 million in 3-year net present value.
Lead 3 ACE sites in achieving Qualifying, Bronze, and Silver Levels; prepared site for ACE Gold.
Participated in the assessment of 5 ACE Silver and Gold cells.
Qualified a consulting team through the U.S. General Service Administration to provide TQM services to government agencies and provided Process Improvement services to NASA Lewis.
Developed effective team training and delivered to over 40 quality management and problem solving teams.

Dr. Mortimer retired from Pratt & Whitney as an ACE manager in 2006 and is now providing TQM and Strategic Account Management services to various clients.

He earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. For two of his undergraduate years he attended the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and has also completed the Hartford Graduate Center’s Management Development Program. Other certifications include registered Lean Service Provider for CCAT (Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology), Zenger-Miller Supervisory Training instructor, and Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Connecticut and Michigan.
